So you’ve started a blog and you are looking for traffic. One way is to add your blog and RSS feed to blog/RSS search engines and directories. But where do you submit?
TopRank recently published a list of blog and RSS feed search engines and directories with the submit urls at: Monster Blog Directory Submit List. Considering the name, I guess this post would have been more relevant yesterday. Oh well, better now than never.
This is not the comprehensive list we use for blog marketing clients, but it’s certainly a useful starting point of over 80 blog and RSS directories. We’ll be adding to this list as we hear of new RSS blog directories and search engines that allow submissions.
Don’t forget to ping everytime you make a post to your blog. Most blog software either does this automatically to services like pingomatic.com or can be configured to do so. Other ping services include pingoat.com (very fast and large list), pings.ws and feedshot.com.
Submitting your blog to regular web site directories is also useful. The Internet Search Engine Database is an excellent resource for finding major and niche directories.
Keep in mind, that directory submissions are only one of many ways to create traffic to a blog. Create a resource out of your blog content and other blogs will link to it. Those are the best traffic and link sources of all.
